Moharli Gate Tadoba: Safari Planning Guide

Moharli is one of the six core gates of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve and the gate on the Chandrapur side of the reserve. This guide covers where it is, how access works, what the booking rules say, and how to plan stays and safaris around it. It does not promise sightings: no gate does.

Location and access

Moharli is a village on the Chandrapur side of the reserve, on the shore of a lake. On the map, the Moharli core gate and the Junona buffer gate sit close together in the village, with stays and a lake-side tourism property nearby.

Transfer times depend on your arrival point, selected safari gate and road conditions. We confirm the appropriate route when planning your itinerary, so we do not publish a fixed distance or journey time for Moharli.

Planning from Nagpur and Chandrapur

  • From Nagpur: transfers are planned according to the appropriate road approach and your arrival location, so allow a full travel day and avoid scheduling a safari straight after arrival. Our Nagpur arrival guide explains how to avoid a rushed first day.
  • From Chandrapur: we plan the road transfer to Moharli via Padmapur, and confirm the route and timing for your arrival point when we plan your itinerary.
  • Safari start times: morning entry runs from 5:30 am to 6:30 am depending on the season, so check the official timings and choose a stay from which you can reach the gate comfortably.

Where to stay near Moharli

Stays near this gate are found in and around Moharli village, including properties along the lake shore. Before you book any stay, ask for its map location and the drive time to the gate you will use, and compare that with your safari entry time. See our resorts and accommodation guide for how to compare options, or send us your dates and we will suggest stays that suit your gate.

Core and buffer planning around Moharli

  • Core safaris enter through the core gate and are closed on Tuesdays. Official core fees depend on the booking window and on weekday or weekend; see safari fees explained.
  • Buffer safaris in the Moharli area use gates such as Junona, Adegaon, Devada, Agarzari and Mamla and are closed on Wednesdays. Buffer fees and timings differ from core; see the timings page for the three buffer slots.
  • Combining both in one stay lets you use a core safari on non-Tuesday days and a buffer safari on non-Wednesday days. Our core vs buffer guide sets out the differences.
  • Booking early: bookings open up to 120 days ahead. Core fees are higher for the 60 to 120 day window, so the cost and the choice of dates both change with how early you book. We do not publish or promise availability.
